Vanderbilt Mouse Metabolic Phenotyping Center (MMPC)

Overview of Services

The Vanderbilt MMPC was founded in 2001 to provide phenotyping services for mouse models of metabolic disease. The VMMPC provides expert experimental and surgical services to better understand mouse models of diabetes and metabolic diseases.

This iLab webpage is specifically for services provided by:

  • The Metabolic Regulation Subcore (glucose clamps, tracer infusions, glucose tolerance, metabolic flux analysis)
  • The Body Weight Regulation Subcore (energy balance, indirect calorimetry, food intake behavior, exercise, telemetry, body temperature)
  • The Islet Phenotyping Subcore (islet isolation, islet perifusions, islet transplants)
  • Self-use instrument reservation (study rooms, temperature-controlled cabinets, respirometry, treadmills, running wheels, telemetry room, surgical stations, anesthesia systems)

We offer many more services, and are happy to discuss custom services. We routinely work with scientists to develop or optimize phenotyping tests. Please email us for guidance regarding the strategy that will best serve your needs.

The MMPC offers customizable training in addition to educational services highlighted by our annual courses Glucose Clamping the Conscious Mouse and Isotope Tracers in Metabolic Research.
